With the nights getting cooler, our furnaces and stoves which have sat dormant all summer long are beginning to fire up again.  It is a good idea to have your furnace professionally serviced and cleaned prior to the heating season. When was the last time your chimney was cleaned?  Creosote and other flammable substances can build up in chimneys over time and cause fires.  The deposit of these substances occurs more quickly when unclean fuels are burned, such as cardboard, wet wood, and trash.

Lanesborough Fire is an all-volunteer department, consisting of a Chief, 3 Deputies, 6 Officers, and 31 firefighters; 10 of whom are EMTs. These people – perhaps even your neighbors – are members of the dedicated team known as the Lanesborough Fire Department. Each one of them is a volunteer. They sacrifice their time, sometimes more, for you and the community.

24 hours a day, seven days a week, this Fire/EMS/ Rescue team is on call to provide their service to this community.

Lanesborough is one of the largest towns of Berkshire County, Massachusetts, bordering Pittsfield, Dalton, Cheshire, New Ashford, and Hancock. Our responsibilities include all Fire and EMS related calls for service throughout town, fire prevention and fire safety education. LVFD also provides mutual aid to Pittsfield and surrounding communities as well as throughout the State of Massachusetts. The department is very proud to operate and support a Massachusetts licensed ambulance.  The Berkshire Mall is an 800,000 square foot shopping complex at the southern end of town; Rockwell Road and the southern access to Mt. Greylock State Reservation is reached from North Main Street/US Route 7.
